Bette Plog Named to Exclusive Membership Organization

Bette Plog is a recipient of the Outstanding Educators of America award

    DALLAS, TX, November 12, 2009 /University PR News/ -- Dr. Bette Plog, Professor Emeritus, retired Director of the IT Institute at El Centro College, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in education.

With 41 years of professional experience, Dr. Plog specializes in organization and curriculum development. She was responsible for conducting credit and concurrent continuing education technology programs in networking and convergence technologies, security and programming, PC support, Oracle, midrange e-server development and Internet development technologies. A member of several Who's Who organizations, Dr. Plog was selected as one of the top ten Texas state Minnie Stevens Piper professors. She has been a chairwoman for the District Computer Information Technology curriculum committee in Dallas County Community College District (DCCCD) since its inception and was responsible for ongoing curriculum revisions. She has served in a number of faculty leadership positions including program coordinator for the Computer Information Technology and Internet Development Technologies programs. She also served as President of the El Centro Faculty Association. She attributes her success to her upbringing, education and to the support she received from her parents and colleagues.

Dr. Plog obtained her doctor of education and master of science in computer science, master of science in educational supervision and bachelor of music from Texas A&M University. She is a member of the DCCCD Retiree Association and a recipient of numerous awards including the Innovator of the Year Award from Texas Technical Society, the Outstanding Educators of America Award and the Master Teacher Award from the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development. She also serves as a co-principal investigator for a National Science Foundation Centers grant.
