Dr. Chowdhury H. Ahsan has gone to Bangladesh on many occasions to volunteer his time, teaching other doctors angiostints at workshops with cardiovascular surgeons, nurses and technicians from the U.S.
LAS VEGAS, NV, December 21, 2009 /University PR News/ -- Dr. Chowdhury H. Ahsan, Clinical Professor of Medicine and Director for the University Medical Center of Southern Nevada, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of higher education and healthcare.
With 24 years of professional experience, Dr. Ahsan specializes in intervention cardiology and angioplasty. He is responsible for overseeing cardiac catheterization laboratory and cardiovascular research, overseeing patient care, going on rounds with residents, teaching, conducting research and performing administrative duties. He also has a practice, The Nevada Heart and Vascular Center within the Medical Center. Previously, he worked at the University of California at Irvine and he attributes his success to his sincerity, hard work and his passion for his profession.
Dr. Ahsan received his Ph.D. from the University of Southampton in the United Kingdom and his MD in 1999, from the University of Pennsylvania. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, the American Heart Association and The Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions. He is a member of the Bangladesh Medical Association of North America and The Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom.
In 2008, Dr. Ahsan received the Teacher Award from the University Medical Center of Southern Nevada. He received the Best Research Award in 2001, from the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology and the Best Teacher Award from the University of California at Irvine three times.
