Susan Sollon Hamilton to Be Profiled in Exclusive Registry

In 2005, Susan Sollon Hamilton was given the Higher Education Teacher of the Year Award

    PITTSBURGH, PA, January 11, 2010 /University PR News/ -- Susan Sollon Hamilton, Associate Professor and Director of Art Education for Carlow University, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in higher education.

Ms. Hamilton has 40 years of overall professional experience and has been with Carlow University for 22 years. Her responsibilities include mentoring art teachers to get their master's degree, advising teachers, teaching graduate education courses in art methods, and overseeing interns. She also sets up internships for teachers with art galleries and museums, recruits those to get involved with the program, and handles the undergraduate certification program. In addition to her career in education, Ms. Hamilton is a professional painter. She did the art work for the front cover of the book titled, "Learning as Wandering" for the Irish author Marie Martin.

Ms. Hamilton received her Master of Education and Art Education from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania in 1977. A certified professional artist and certified art therapist, she holds a certification in art education, and a specialist degree in elementary and secondary art methods. She is a member of the National Art Education Association and the Pennsylvania Art Education Association, where she received the Higher Education Teacher of the Year Award in 2008.
