Cambridge Who's Who Names Patricia Anne Laster Facquet, RN, Ph.D., Professional of the Year in Nursing Education

HAUPPAUGE, NY, November 17, 2010 /University PR News/ -- Patricia Anne Laster Facquet, RN, Ph.D., Assistant Clinical Nursing Professor at Adelphi University, has been named Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in Nursing Education. While inclusion in the Cambridge Who's Who Registry is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Cambridge Who's Who membership.

A registered nurse with 28 years of experience, Patricia Anne Laster Facquet specializes in pediatric and public health nursing. She is currently on her sixth year sharing her expertise with nursing students at Adelphi University in Long Island. Her responsibilities include teaching medical-surgical, community public health and pediatric nursing, helping student nurses complete their bachelor's degrees, preparing them for the RN Registry examination, and advising them on career options. She also participates in evidence-based practice and nursing research and presents lectures on environmental health and infectious diseases. Ms. Facquet became a nurse because of her father, who was ill as she was growing up and left in her a desire to take care of people. She attributes her success to her parents, who placed a high premium on education, and to the inspiration that she received from her teachers, peers, husband, children and grandchildren.

Ms. Facquet is a Ph.D. doctoral candidate in public health from Walden University. She received a master of science in public health, also from Walden, and a master of nursing education from Cambridge College. She is also a Johnson & Johnson school nurse fellow. Her affiliations include the American Nurses Association, the New York State Nurses Association, the American Public Health Association, the Louisiana State University Alumni Association, the Walden University Alumni Association, Sigma Theta Tau International, the Honor Society of Nursing, and the Nursing Students' Association of New York State. She names the American Cancer Society and Susan G. Komen for the Cure as her favorite charities.
