Darius O. Makuja, Ph.D., Honored by Cambridge Who's Who

Dr. Darius O. Makuja has received numerous awards and grants

    SYRACUSE, NY, December 10, 2010 /University PR News/ -- Dr. Darius O. Makuja, Assistant Professor of Religious Studies at Le Moyne College, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in higher education.

With 23 years of professional experience, Dr. Makuja attributes his success to his ability to face challenges head on. His responsibilities at Le Moyne College include teaching students courses on religion, historical theology, medieval construction and contemporary African themes. He is currently working several scholarly projects, including: "Pillow Talk and Conversion Strategies: Gregory the Great's Reliance on Royal Women," "The Wars of Our Fathers are not Our Wars: Sudanese Lost Boys/Girls in the US and the Rupture of Identities, 'Gregory the Great and the Anglo-Saxon Mission: A Proto-Typical Inculturation," and "The Political Aspects of Religious Transformation during the Carolingian Empire."

Dr. Makuja earned a Ph.D. in historical theology in 2006 and a master's degree in historical theology in 1999 from Saint Louis University. In 1987, he earned a bachelor's degree in religion and theology in Nairobi, Kenya. He is a member of the Medieval Academy of America, the American Academy of Religion and the American Historical Association, the Alpha Delta Nu Chapter of Theta Alpha Kappa, American Academy of Religion, American Society of Church History, Catholic Theological Society, Medieval Academy of America and The Southern Conference on African American Studies.
