Virginia Kugel-Zank Honored by Cambridge Who's Who
Teaching veteran, Virginia Kugel-Zank developed the writing lab at Missouri Valley College
MARSHALL, MO, February 2, 2010 /University PR News/ -- Virginia Kugel-Zank, Retired Associate Professor of English, Director of the Learning Center and Supervisor of Freshman First Year Program from Missouri Valley College, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in English in higher education.
Prior to her retirement, Virginia Kugel-Zank gained nearly 50 years of professional experience in the field of academia. During her tenure with Missouri Valley College, she served as a member of the English department faculty - a charge that required she teach literature, writing and advanced literacy. In addition to her responsibilities as an instructor, Ms. Kugel-Zank directed the Missouri Valley's learning center, supervised the freshman first year program, and conceptualized and implemented a sophisticated writing lab. In these varying capacities, she consulted with students and provided academic support and career advisement.
For her professional efforts, Ms. Kugel-Zank was honored with the Marshall Teacher of the Year Award, the John McCallum Teaching in Excellence Award and the Governor's Award for Excellence in Teaching. She was recently named "Professional of the Year" by Cambridge Publishing in 2007 and 2008, and was inducted into Who's Who Among America's Teachers. Ms. Kugel-Zank holds a master's degree in English from Central Missouri State University.
