Dr. Wayne A. Johnson Recognized as Leading Authority in Criminology
Dr. Wayne A. Johnson honored for excellence in criminal investigation and higher education
PALATINE, IL, March 10, 2010 /University PR News/ -- Dr. Wayne A. Johnson, Program Chairman at Harper College, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in criminology and higher education.
A 30-year professional veteran, Dr. Wayne A. Johnson is a recognized authority in criminal investigation. He brings extensive experience to his position at Harper College, where he both teaches in and oversees the law enforcement, justice administration and forensic science programs as well as their 22 faculty members.
Dr. Johnson is a prominent figure both in the academic and professional realms. A published author and a national speaker on the topic of criminal justice, he is currently in the midst of writing his latest book on organized crime. In 2001, he was featured in "Esquire" magazine (http://www.esquire.com/features/ESQ0701-JULY_CRIME_rev_), was interviewed as a field expert by both The History Channel and A&E, and wrote an article for AmericanMafia.com (http://www.americanmafia.com/Feature_Articles_27.html). Today, he lends his expertise to Harper College and acts as an independent consultant.
A strong academic background has served as the platform for Dr. Johnson's success. He attended Northern Illinois University, where he earned a doctor of education in 2001, and holds a master's degree in criminal social justice and a bachelor's degree in criminal social justice from Lewis University. He is also a licensed private detective with industry-related training. After retiring from the Chicago Police Department, where he specialized in homicide investigation, he developed and taught the profiling course at Lewis University for 15 years.
Dr. Johnson serves as a board member for his local crime prevention committee. His professional affiliations include but are not limited to the Lake County Chief of Police Association, the North Suburban Chiefs of Police Association, the Illinois Academy of Criminology, the International Homicide Investigators Association and the International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association.
