John K. Marah is a Recognized Authority on African and African-American Studies
John K. Marah chairs the Department of African and African-American Studies at SUNY Brockport
BROCKPORT, NY, March 24, 2010 /University PR News/ --John K. Marah, Chairman of SUNY Brockport's Department of African and African-American Studies, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in higher education.
An impassioned educator, John K. Marah lends nearly three decades of experience to SUNY Brockport where he serves as Chairman of the Department of African and African-American Studies. Best noted for his extensive knowledge of African-American literature, Mr. Marah travels to annually to Ghana with 12 students in an effort to provide an in-depth and first-hand learning experience for those studying African culture. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Mr. Marah is tasked with overseeing five staff members and lecturing at various institutions of higher learning on the particulars of African and African-American studies.
Mr. Marah is a graduate of Syracuse University, where he earned his doctorate in education in 1982. His professional affiliations include the New York African Studies Association, the African Studies Association and the African Literature Association.
