Dr. Katherine A. Kantardjieff celebrates 35 of success in her career
FULLERTON, CA, August 19, 2010 /University PR News/ -- Dr. Katherine A. Kantardjieff, Professor and Chair of Chemistry at California State Polytechnic University at Pomona, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in higher education.
With 35 years of professional experience, Dr. Kantardjieff attributes her success to the support she receives from her mentors and family. At her current post, she coordinates with six full-time lecturers, seven technical and administrative staff members, and twenty-five faculty, oversees day-to-day operations, and manages the budget. She also oversees two research centers where she is Director of the Keck Center for Molecular Structure, and Director of Computing at the Center for Macromolecular Modeling and Materials Design.
Dr. Kantardjieff was Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry at California State University at Fullerton, where she received the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics Distinguished Faculty Award in 2009. She previously served as Chair of the Science Department at Daniel Murphy High School, and as a mathematics instructor at Immaculate Heart High School.
Dr. Kantardjieff received her Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry and her Master of Science in Physical Chemistry from the University of California at Los Angeles. She received her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Southern California.
Dr. Kantardjieff is an editorial board member of the Journal of Chemical Crystallography, Co-Editor of the Journal of Applied Crystallography, and she serves as Chair of the United States National Committee for Crystallography. She is a member of the American Crystallographic Association, Inc., American Chemical Society, and the International Union of Crystallography.
