Terry Poindexter's expertise is in reading instruction
COVINGTON, KY, September 13, 2010 /University PR News/ --Terry Poindexter, Literacy Coach at Covington Independent Public Schools, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in education.
Ms. Poindexter has 30 years of overall professional experience. As a literacy coach, she is responsible for supervising and coaching 3- and 4-year-old preschoolers and their teachers, monitoring discipline, evaluating students and teachers, and tracking their progress. She previously taught kindergarten students.
In 1982, Ms. Poindexter received her Master of Education, with a concentration in Special Education and Elementary Education, from Northern Kentucky University. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education in 1976 from Eastern Kentucky University, and holds a certification in preschool training.
A member of the Kentucky Education Association and the American Association for Adult and Continuing Education, Ms. Poindexter has been active at the local, district, state, and national level with the National Education Association. From 1998 to 2002, she was a member of the Educational Professionals Standards Board, which she was appointed by the former Kentucky Governor Paul E. Patton.
