John L. Leonardo, MD, Recognized for Dedication to Anesthesiology

SYOSSET, NY, July 18, 2011 /University PR News/ -- Dr. John L. Leonardo, Anesthesiologist for General Anesthesia Services, LLP, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in anesthesiology.
Dr. Leonardo is an award-winning anesthesiologist with expertise in office-based anesthesia. He currently practices at General Anesthesia Services, LLP, where he is known for his exceptional clinical skills, sound judgment, and calming demeanor. His responsibilities include thorough perioperative patient care through patient optimization via preoperative screening, consultation with surgeons and staff, administration of various levels of anesthesia while monitoring and caring for patients until discharge criteria have been met. In the years to come, Dr. Leonardo plans to continue representing his group practice to the best of his ability.
Dr. Leonardo earned his Medical Degree from the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center in 2002. The following year Dr. Leonardo completed his internship in Internal Medicine at St. Vincent's Catholic Medical Center in Staten Island, New York. He then began his anesthesiology residency training at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital Center. During his final year, Dr. Leonardo was awarded the honor of being Chief Resident.
Dr. Leonardo enjoys providing anesthesia in the ambulatory setting. His training at St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital Center, the home of the New York School of Regional Anesthesia, has made him particularly adept at performing regional nerve blocks for surgical anesthesia and postoperative pain management of an isolated region of the body. In addition to these blocks, Dr. Leonardo is skilled in providing general anesthesia and IV sedation for a variety of cases.
Dr. Leonardo is a certified diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology. The Consumer's Research Council of America selected Dr. Leonardo as one of America's Top Anesthesiologists each year between 2006 -2010. Dr. Leonardo is most proud of his ability to provide care with a personal touch. His calming demeanor places patients at ease and helps develop immediate trust.
